Good reasons to buy this shopping trolley!

I’m a sucker for quirky things. Anything with an element of design makes it irresistible and I think that’s the case with most people these days.

I don’t usually do these kind of posts, but I thought there will be people out there, just like me, wanting to know where to go to find something ‘different’ and ‘affordable’ at the same time.

I found them at Pepperfry.com. After a thorough search, I found this cute card holder. I’ve owned those boring leather card cases in the past, but this one truly made me happy. It makes me want to flip it open at every chance I get, to retrieve a card.
One look at this cutesy card holder and you’ll know why. 🙂

The second unique item I found on Pepperfry is this amazing shopping trolley. They have a wide variety but at Rs 1,550, this beauty on two wheels was like an answer to most of my little problems.

A trip to the supermarket is not so difficult, because they have trolleys there, to lug around the veggies and other stuff. But I always found a trip to the grocery store close to home, to be quite painful. It’s too close to home, so you can’t drive down there and carrying heavy bags full of groceries all the way back home eventually causes the arms and shoulders to ache terribly! Haven’t we all experienced this?

Which is why, this Obsessions L’amour Foldable Shopping Trolley is like a boon. Milk, veggies, toast, big bags of wheat, tender coconut water… all I’ve to do is dump them in this super-cute trolley and keep walking.

And for those who have kids… I even use this trolley as a stroller at times. My kid loves to sit on it and even stand inside at times, while I entertain her by pushing the trolley and do some minor shopping alongside as well. Pure bliss!

Sridevi’s Fashion Boo Boo

Okay, first things first. I’m a fan of Sridevi’s dress sense. She can carry off a short tube dress with the same elegance that she does a simple chiffon sari or a heavily emroidered anarkali. She just turned 50 and still refuses to get predictable in the wardrobe department. An innate dress sense is unarguably a quality that most can only hope to posses, but Sri has it in abundance.

So, it’s surprising to see her turn up at designer duo Abu Jani – Sandeep Khosla’s “The Golden Peacock”, an evening of couture for the Sahachari Foundation at The Ball Room, Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, Mumbai. While there’s nothing wrong with the choice of dress, it’s the bulging bosom that has us staring/ wondering/ confused…? You gotta admit, it’s very unlike Sri, who always dresses to impress, not to attract unwanted attention.

Mud Rushing in Pune…Wooohooooo

Honestly, there are so many festivals being held in India, that it’s difficult to say which one is worth your time and which is not. I’m sure there will be different reasons for people to like one festival over another as well. What set the Mud Rush apart from others, for me, is that it is held twice a year and in a different location, giving me an opportunity to have a blast and explore a new destination at the same time. Mud Rush, now an event that most people actually look forward to attending, was last held in February 2013, in Kolad, Maharashtra. Six months later, the venue was Fort Jadhavgadh in Pune, Maharashtra. Check out these pictures, taken at Fort Jadhavgadh, during the event.

It’s quite simple: Participants have to run along a muddy track and clear various levels of obstacles. You are considered and made to feel like a winner, provided you finish the run. The Pune edition, which took place on August 31, 2013, kept with the theme of the Fort and had people in traditional Maratha garb blow the trumpet and drums for those who finished the run and as they were presented with medals and a chilled can of beer. Awesome!

What followed was a day of relaxation under the sun and grooving to signature beats of various DJ’s, throughout the day. The actual party, of course, began only once the sun began to set… and had even the most tired Mud Rusher tapping his feet involuntarily…

PSSTTTT…: Aamby Valley has been declared as the Mud Rush venue for February 2014. Start preparing already…

Sabyasachi’s genius unleashed on the LFW F/W 2013 runway…Here’s a sneak peek into his latest collection…

Designer Sabyasachi Mukherji’s trends for the upcoming season, in his Grand Finale show at Lakme Fashion Week F/W 2013, drastically moved away from pop and all things bright. His trend forecast is back to the classics as beige, black, gold, red and rust ruled his collection. Saris with satin and velvet pallus also formed a major part of his line-up. Most of his designs had a distinct English aura about them, fused with Indian royalty. Don’t miss out on the chic factor, so cleverly introduced by the designer, in the form of striped T-shirt blouses. Genius, indeed!

Horror struck: Sona’s worst outfit till date?

Image

Why, Sonakshi Sinha, why? Just when we thought that you’ve given your wardrobe a make over or hired a sensible stylist, you spring an ugly one on us! Leather-y blouse with a distinct Spandex-ish sheen to it that threatens to slide off, exposing more of a well nourished shoulder — how could you not know that this deady sari-blouse combo is anything but flattering? Add to it the WWF Championship gold belt on the waist and it’s a recipe for disaster! As if the harsh monsoons this season is not inflicting enough pain on us already… 😦

Sneak peak into Aahana Deol’s engagement ceremony

Looks like Bollywood’s evergreen couple Hema Malini and Dharmendra’s youngest daughter Aahana is taking a leaf out of elder sister Esha’s diary by following in her footsteps and getting hitched. Close friends of the couple say that Aahana and Vaibhav are very much in love and decided to get married and then pursue their respective careers. Vaibhav is a Delhi based businessman. Though till recently, rumours suggested that Aahana is readying for her big Bollywood debut, the fact is that the young lass is quite keen on pursuing a career in fashion designing and perhaps, at a later stage, even film direction. But for now, she’s thrilled about the impending big Indian wedding. Badhayi ho badhayi…

Pant on Fire

Image

My first impressions of stand up comedian Sorabh Pant were formed from his picture on a standee. He was to do a stand up act for Advent House who was promoting Drambuie’s (amazing liqueur made from malt whisky, honey, herbs and spices) entry in the Indian market. Sporting a wide grin, he was staring out of the standee with his donkey teeth literally jutting out of the frame. Franky, he looked every bit the eager-to-impress chu**ya comedian, who will not shy away from shoving his tasteless jokes down the throats of a bored audience. However, when Sorabh’s name was announced, the man who came up looked like a hybrid version of the picture on the standee. Well-built (a rare sight and relief from pot bellied stand up comedians) and good looking, he didn’t disappoint even when he opened his mouth. Since the crowd present was small and Indian, he stuck to desi jokes, taking jabs at people from various communities. North Indians, South Indians, Gujaratis, Marwadis, married couples, singles, Indian men and women in general… Sorabh highlighted the best and worst in them all, evoking a knowing laugh from the audience who instantly connected with his rants. But what struck me most about this funny man is that apart from the ability to tell a joke, he was a damn good actor. Mind you, not every person who is good at stand up proves to be a good actor. But this guy seemed to have it in him. He switched from doing a fantastic Barrack Obama imitation to dancing like a manic at an Indian wedding to gaining back his calm composure within seconds and effortlessly.
At the beginning of the act, Sorabh’s introduction stated that he was named as one of the top comedians to watch out for in India, by several publications. Twenty minutes into his act, I couldn’t agree more and if I may… Sorabh Pant… you could make a killing by joining the movies too. Not as a hero though. Don’t flatter yourself. 😀
